A COMMITMENT TO BE A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST
I choose to follow Jesus Christ, Yeshua. I is my intention, it is my will, to seek him out and learn from him. I do so because I want what he has, I want to be who he is. I do not make him King by force so that he will fulfill my own selfish desires
John 6:26 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God has placed his seal of approval.”
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
but I choose to submit myself, my will, to him so that he will be my King and so that I may be his disciple. I know that to be his disciple is to live in his Kingdom, to live the full, rich and rewarding life that he has for me.
I ask and keep asking that Yeshua reveal himself ever more fully to me. As an apprentice I seek to live with Yeshua constantly so that I may learn to imitate his life, his thinking and his person.
Mathew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden light.”
I choose to dwell in his words as presented to us in the written Gospels. To do so is to know the truth and the truth will set me free from self-righteousness, sin and death.
John 8:31 To the Jews that had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
I have counted the cost and I know that life in his Kingdom is far more valuable than any and all that life outside his Kingdom has to offer. I choose life in the Kingdom. I choose to be a disciple of Yeshua.
Mathew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his own soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
I am in this world for a time but I am not of this world. I am of the Kingdom of Heaven, forever.
1 Peter 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Yeshua instructed his disciples to make disciples of all nations. Therefore, I will proclaim, manifest and teach others about life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Mathew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
